5 star review for Martin and crew! They did a fantastic job and were thousands less than others. I would recommend them for any and all granite and tile work! They got the job done quickly and very professionally.

Soapstone a Bakers Delight

Soapstone is prized by cooks and bakers for its smooth dense surface which is soft to the touch and ideal for rolling pastries. Ideal for kitchen countertops and islands. Cooks enjoy soapstone for many reasons. It is extremely dense, even more so than granite. It will not stain, and liquid cannot permeate its surface. It is chemically inert, non-reactive to harsh chemicals, and extremely heat stable allowing hot pans to be set directly on its surface. However, soapstone is soft and scratches easily. These scratches will create a patina on the stone's surface over time and should be expected with everyday wear. Soapstone will naturally darken over time, although most industry professionals advise using mineral oil to hasten the darkening to make it more even in appearance in the meantime. It can be very easy to make it look brand new.

Area of Applications:

Kitchen countertops, islands, bar tops

Origins:

Soapstone is a metamorphic rock that is composed mostly of talc. Soapstone most often forms at convergent plate boundaries where broad areas of Earth’s crust are subjected to heat and directed pressure.
